We are committed to reducing our environmental impact through energy efficiency, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing of office materials. That is why we support our clients in adopting environmentally responsible practices including reducing waste, conserving water and energy, and sourcing sustainable ingredients. We support our clients in complying with local and global environmental regulations, further helping them develop effective strategies that align with their particular sustainability goals.

Stanton & Stanton has achieved Government Climate Active certification. We are a carbon neutral law firm, measuring our emissions in accordance with the federal government's Climate Active Standard. We offset our remaining emissions through the retirement of carbon offset units eligible under that standard. We have further aligned our carbon credit purchase with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, investing only in credits that achieved the UN (SDG) certifications, helping to support communities in need.

Following our Climate Active certification, we have also implemented an Emissions Reduction Strategy aiming to be 100% green-powered by 2030. We have since made tremendous changes to achieve this within 2024.

Supporting our staff and local community.

At Stanton & Stanton we also recognise our talented female staff are critical to our ongoing success. To ensure they reach their full potential, we recognise they need a safe and supportive environment. That is why we are signatories to the Charter for the Advancement of Women for the Law Institute of Victoria and the Law Society of New South Wales, as well as the Diversity and Equality Charter for the Law Council of Australia.

We also extend our support to women in our clients’ sectors partnering with the Australian Women in Wine. This partnership allows us to celebrate women’s achievements and advocate gender equality across the Australian wine industry.

Another one of our partners is St Vincent’s Curran Foundation. This foundation aims to deliver excellent healthcare for all people by bridging government funding gaps for St Vincent’s hospitals and facilities in New South Wales. We support the foundation with donations and allow them to use our city office as a venue for their fundraising events. By providing venues for these events, we help create a space where the community can come together to raise funds and awareness for the importance of accessible healthcare.

We also recognise it is our professional responsibility to support our local community, offering up our expertise to those who need it most. That is why we have committed to the National Pro Bono Target. As a Target Signatory each of our lawyers aim to provide 35 hours of pro bono legal help to their local communities each year. This service extends to our long-standing client, Aboriginal Employment Strategy Limited. All with the aim of strengthening our community bonds and helping those who need it most.

We recognise the need to constantly strengthen internal and external governance structures. That is why all staff receive onboarding training and regular risk management training, ensuring they are familiar with our policies and Australian best practice. Each training session focuses on accountability, ethical conduct and transparency, these three key factors lead to effective and sustainable governance.

We also work closely with our management team and external stakeholders to implement best governance practices across our organisation and the organisation’s we work closely with. We do this by ensuring our policies and methods are constantly reviewed and improved. We recognise that constant, small improvements in our everyday actions will help us achieve excellence moving forward.
